Raleigh Highlights – Known as one corner of the Research Triangle, Raleigh lays out its neighborhoods across a series of low rolling hills that our street map captures in detail, from the government core downtown to the university lined streets beyond it. Downtown centers on a compact cluster of government buildings, restaurants, and a nightlife scene concentrated around Fayetteville Street. Five Points, north of downtown, mixes older bungalow homes with a small commercial district of independent shops, all connected by wide, tree lined avenues. The Cameron Village area functions as one of the city’s original shopping centers, now surrounded by dense apartment living and easy access to nearby North Carolina State University. Hayes Barton, an established neighborhood just north of downtown, features large historic homes on generously sized lots, prized for their proximity to the urban core. North Hills, several miles further out, has developed into a major mixed use destination with high rise offices, shopping, and residential towers all within walking distance of each other.
